After you copy the le, remove the Adaptec Installation DVD.
6. Launch vSphere PowerCLI, then follow the steps below to create the custom boot image:
a) At the PowerCLI prompt, add the VMware Image Builder snap-in by running the following cmdlet:
# Add-PSSnapIn VMware.ImageBuilder
Note: You will see a message if the Image Builder snap-in is already installed.
You can ignore this message.
Note: Continue using PowerCLI in Steps 6.b through 6.j.
b) Add the VMware ESXi 5.x Software Depots:
VMware ESXi 5.0:
# Add-EsxSoftwareDepot
C:\ESXi5.0-PMC-CustomISO\vmware-ESXi-5.0.0-469512-depot.zip
VMware ESXi 5.1:
# Add-EsxSoftwareDepot
C:\ESXi5.1-PMC-CustomISO\vmware-ESXi-5.1.0-799733-depot.zip
where C:\ESXi5.x-PMC-CustomISO is the temporary folder on your build machine where the
software depot is stored.
c) Add the AACRAID driver binary as a software depot (where xxxxx is the build number):
VMware ESXi 5.0:
# Add-EsxSoftwareDepot
C:\ESXi5.0-PMC-CustomISO\aacraid-esxi5.0-1.2.1.xxxxx.zip
VMware ESXi 5.1:
# Add-EsxSoftwareDepot
C:\ESXi5.1-PMC-CustomISO\aacraid-esxi5.1-1.2.1.xxxxx.zip
where C:\ESXi5.x-PMC-CustomISO is the temporary folder on your build machine where the
software depot is stored.
d) Verify that the software depots are added:
# $DefaultSoftwareDepots
e) List ESX Image Proles:
# Get-EsxImageProfile
You should see a display similar to this:
ESXi-5.1.0-799733-no-tools
ESXi-5.1.0-799733-standard
f) Create a copy of the standard image prole, using the -CloneProle option:
VMware ESXi 5.0:
# New-EsxImageProfile -CloneProfile ESXi-5.0.0-469512-standard -Name
"ESXi 5.0 Adaptec Series 7"
VMware ESXi 5.1:
# New-EsxImageProfile -CloneProfile ESXi-5.1.0-799733-standard -Name
"ESXi 5.1 Adaptec Series 7"
